Non profits can bring people together to move mountains. I can see how business, government, and people can benefit by going green - but the process of getting from here to there needs a lot of facilitation, collaboration and management. JUCCCE's mission is to Accelerate the Greening of China, and it needs people, agencies, projects, academics, engineers and companies, evangelists and implementers to cooperate. Between my engineering education, my consulting experience, and work in VC in Shanghai, I was ready to hear the message Susan Hockfield sent out during an MIT alumni meeting in 2006: while China's energy and environmental "equation" was getting harder to solve, the stakes were rising. There was a clear space for someone, some NGO, to get in and start building all the necessary connections. My life is about bringing everyone to the table - and making sure the table provides the conditions that help get things done.
