Angie Eagan has spent eleven years in China, the last eight working for WPP companies. During her career in China, she has worked across a broad range of business sectors, assisting multinational companies in developing successful strategies to address issues such as starting and building a China presence, targeting and working with appropriate government regulators, localising management, positioning corporate brands and products in the local market, developing loyalty platforms, providing media and crisis training as well as crisis support to regional and country managers, and building cross-cultural teams. She has also worked with Chinese companies in defining brand identity to make them more competitive short-term and fulfill a long-term goal of public listing.
Angie has led a number of pioneering communications programs in support of the unique needs that multi-national companies have in China and Asia Pacific. Examples of regionally and globally awarded programs that Angie developed include the marketing platform for a technology company to support early penetration into second, third and fourth tier cities in China; a 30-city campaign for a fashion brand to reinforce market leadership and combat counterfeiting; a 12-country brand building program to demonstrate the radical simplicity of wireless while addressing issues around Asia's digital divide; and a national brand re-launch that was called "the most effective communications campaign of the year" based upon measurement by independent research firm Echo.
Angie has leveraged her early management consultancy work in China to provide strategic counsel to organisations like the Special Olympics and the Shanghai Government's 2010 World Expo Bid Committee. In addition to her China role, Angie has been regional account manager for Unilever and Alcatel. Before joining Hudson, Angie was Vice President of China for Young& Rubicam Brands, prior to that she was a Managing Director with its Burson-Marsteller China office. Before her move into strategic communications, Angie was the Managing Partner of Asia Access, a management consultancy that specialises in telecommunications and information technology advisory services. Prior to working with Asia Access, Angie was Director of Operations and Chief Representative in Shanghai, China, for Pacific Rim Resources (PRR), a management consulting firm focused on developing market entry strategies for multinationals in Asia.
Angie regularly provides insight on management issues in China through participation in the Shanghai American Chamber of Commerce, where she has served on the Board of Governors for three years and as Chairman of the Board in 2001 and 2002, as well as the Chairman of the Nominations and Elections Committee in 2003. She currently sits on a five member Ethics Committee for the chamber. She has spoken and published extensively on market entry and market expansion in China. She is on the Board of Directors for Mongolia Sunrise to Sunset, a non-profit organisation that was formed to develop sustainable tourism and to maintain Lake Hovsgol Park in Mongolia. In conjunction with this, she is the race day director of a 100km ultra-marathon run in the park each summer - the proceeds from the run go towards the protection of the Park and preservation of the natural eco-system.
Angie has an MBA from Santa Clara University. She has travelled extensively throughout Asia and has lived in China since 1995.
