Season Xu began his company 5 Minute Games with the belief that everybody playing games should love their games. He presented his company and gaming strategy from his perspective as a Chinese entrepreneur at the Beijing Startonomics session of the Geeks on a Plane tour in 2009. Season Xu, CEO of Five Minutes, and his team of social game developers want to create a game they believe everyone will enjoy. He created his company based on a few key principles to help him achieve that goal:
- They design games for online gamers by creating in-browser, Flash-style games.
- They believe playing with real friends is more fun than playing along. Real friends add a social element to a very simple game, and the extra depth the social element brings can extend the life span of a game.
- The know that consumers are smart, and eventually will figure out that a mega-multiplayer online game is a waste of their time. That is why they believe a five-minute type of game is a healthy and preferred game.
Xu's goal is to create a game people love that they can play online and also create a game environment offline by discussing it with their friends who also play the game. At the time of this presentation Five Minutes had just begun their global ascent by launching their game Happy Farm on Facebook in the previous month, which was received successfully.
